Rowena Cory Lindquist reports "The first book of my T'En trilogy,
called 'Broken Vows' in the US has made the final three of the
PRISM Award. My book is up against Catherine Asaro's so I don't
hold out much chance of winning but its nice to be in her company.
The placings will be announced at the National Romance Conference
in late July.
And while I'm at it book two, 'Dark Legacy' has just been released
in Australia."

TICONDEROGA LATE
Russell B. Farr reports "Following a car accident involving editor
Russell B Farr and two others on 30 June 2000, the July 2000 issue
of Ticonderoga On-line has been merged into the August issue.
This will appear on-line on 1 August 2000.
Fortunately no one was seriously injured in the accident. It
occurred in country Western Australia and involved a horse which,
sadly, had to be shot. I would like to thank all who have sent
their best wishes and kind thoughts."

Gerald Smith notes "Womble has just learned that she has
successfully completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching
English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)."
PERIPATETIC FANS
Adelaide Cartoonist and one time SCA brewmaster John Packer has
been visiting Melbourne recently. When cornered he still draws a
mean rat, but, in response to a request for a spider he drew an
insey wincey little dot. Upon questioning, he replied "It's a
money spider..."
John Foyster reports "Billy Pettit had only a short layover here
in Adelaide as The Ghan prepared for its laborious trip up to
Alice Springs. Our main topic of fannish conversation was the Care
and Preservation of Fanzines." There were also dinner gatherings
in Melbourne with Bruce Gillespie and Irwin Hirsh. Bruce Gillespie
notes "Billy and Rosemary had several days in Melbourne. They saw
all the usual Melbourne touristy sights, and also stray fans, such
as Elaine and me, and the Clan Hirsh."
ILLITERATE PROGRAMMING EXECUTIVES
Jason Watson forwarded the following to the Swancon mailing list,
regarding the broadcasting of Farscape in Perth.
"Dear Jason,
I write in response to you Fax dated July 11th 2000 requesting
information on our program Farscape. Due to poor ratings, this
program has been withdrawn from our schedule for the time being.
Farscape will undergo a re-launch and return to our line-up
towards the end of this year. We remain hopeful of attracting a
significant audience with an earlier primetime slot upon it's
return."
Good to see that television executives can't use the possessive
"its" correctly. It's confirmed several of my prejudices.

appalling Holodiction event, an attendee who made the trip all the
way from New Zealand to see Robbie Duncan McNeil was spurred on to
create the SF Fan's Consumer Advice Web Site. It has both an
Alerts and a Praise page. There is also a page rating the guests.
There are some that really are not worth the money but most are
worth every cent and more. Before people spend huge bucks on
attending a Convention, especially if travel and accommodation is
involved, they might want to get a look at what they are in for.
